By bending, reflecting, guiding and structuring, envisions, in collaboration with the Dutch Silver Museum Schoonhoven, was experimentally guided by the versatile properties of silver wire. This refined version of silver was widely used in traditional crafts, because the delicate contours allow for a wide range of shapes and volumes. With mass-producible applications as a starting point, envisions’ work presents a contemporary vision of this precious material, with the aim of stimulating its sustainable development in the industry.

The Schoonhoven Silver Award is an initiative of the Stichting Zilverkunst. Schoonhoven Silver Award 2018 again strives for public outreach, broadening and innovation of traditional silversmithing. Even more than before, the Dutch Silver Museum Schoonhoven wants the competition to align with one of the spearheads in its policy: stimulating the use of new techniques and innovation. In this edition, innovation is sought in the renewal of old, proven and traditional techniques, and preserving intangible heritage by breathing new life into it.

Stokroos Stipendium 2017 – Transcience – bowls by Lex Pott
2017
Lex Pott has been selected for the grant from Stichting Stokroos. The request to create a silver object for the permanent collection of the Dutch Silver Museum in Schoonhoven was answered with a Transience bowl and dish of oxidized silver that he created together with David Derksen. In the colorful series, silver is not polished to a shine, but the pure beauty of the aging process is shown in all its glory.
