Encounters: Lynne Leegte & Daan Brouwer
From 11 December, the Dutch Silver Museum presents Ontmoetingen: Lynne Leegte & Daan Brouwer. This exhibition is the first edition of a new series in which the museum brings together contemporary artists, silversmiths, and designers. These encounters show how different makers open up each other’s worlds—and offer new ways of looking at materials and craftsmanship.
This first encounter focuses on the work of visual artist Lynne Leegte (1965) and silversmith Daan Brouwer (1978). Both create objects that convey calm, focus, and precision.
About the artists
Lynne Leegte works with a variety of materials, including alabaster. The semi-translucent stone, which seems to capture and hold light, enhances the sense of fragility that characterizes her work. In her sculptures and installations, she explores themes such as transience, comfort, and memory. For her, the material follows the concept: the alabaster reinforces her ideas about the transience of existence.
Daan Brouwer is known for his sculptural silverwork that navigates between form and function. Brouwer combines traditional craftsmanship with modern production methods such as rapid prototyping. His objects evoke a sense of movement: surfaces appear to ripple, merge, or deform like molten metal.

Encounters
With this series, the Dutch Silver Museum aims to foster dialogue over the coming years between contemporary makers and the centuries-old craft of silversmithing.
By connecting artists from different disciplines, space is created for new insights into material, meaning, and craftsmanship.
The exhibition can be visited at the Dutch Silver Museum in Schoonhoven from 11 December 2025 through 13 September 2026.
