Chambord Castle

Immortalized in silver

The silver castle of Chambord could be admired on Monday, March 13 in the program ‘Van Inschatbare Waarde’. Nico van der Putten, the creator and inventor of this work of art, discovers how much the piece is now worth and whether it could be exhibited somewhere nice.

Van Inschatbare Waarde was broadcast on Monday, March 13, 2023, at 8:30 PM on NPO1. Missed it? It can be watched back via NLziet and other on demand platforms.

Silver replica

A unique piece

Nico van der Putten was on holiday in France when he saw the castle of Chambord. That is where he got the idea to make a silver replica of the castle. Van der Putten worked on the piece for almost 9 years and used 8.5 kilos of silver. The replica has approximately 7,100 windows, each made by hand. The appraiser valued the piece at €45,000 in 2017.
