How the silver workshop came to be
The Silver Workshop came into existence by cooperation with the Foundation Silver in Motion, the Schoonhoven Trade School, Nederlands Zilvermuseum Schoonhoven and the municipality of Schoonhoven. The workshop was established to create opportunities for starting, graduate silver and goldsmiths from the Trade School to develop their talents and skills as (cultural) businessmen and women.
The Silver Workshop today
The Silver Workshop has grown to become a melting pot of budding artists and seasoned masters. A place where young talent can start a business, work on a collection, and build their clientele. But also as a place where the masters share their knowledge with the younger generations. In short, the Silver Workshop is the place where visitors will discover the most coveted secrets of silver and goldsmithing. You will smell, hear, and see silver as you cross the doorstep. Gold and silversmiths are at work here, every day. Moreover, they love showing their skills to visitors and explain with a passion what their craft entail.
The Silver Workshop is open for visitors during the museum’s regular opening times. The number of artists at work varies from day to day. The silver workshop is part of the museum and access is free with a valid museum admission ticket. Various objects and items of jewellery made by the artists who work here can be purchased in the Silver Workshop.
